Kirsty Strong is a Partner at Frodshams and Head of the Private Client department. She gained her law degree in 2009, worked in the legal industry for eight years, and qualified as a solicitor in 2017. She is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the global professional body for practitioners working in trusts, inheritance and estate planning.
Her work includes wills, probate and estate administration, lasting powers of attorney, Court of Protection applications, trusts and inheritance tax planning. She advises individuals with complex affairs, and works regularly with clients where there are questions about a person's capacity to make particular decisions, or where family circumstances are difficult. Inheritance tax planning is a particular focus.
Kirsty also acts as a professional attorney and as a professional deputy — two distinct roles. An attorney is chosen by the client themselves under a lasting power of attorney, while they still have the capacity to make that choice; some appoint her because they have no family able to act, others because they would rather the responsibility sat with an independent professional. A deputy is appointed by the Court of Protection where someone already lacks capacity to make the decisions in question and no attorney is in place.
That work is not only administrative. Her department keeps in regular contact with clients who are isolated or have no family nearby, alongside managing their affairs. Kirsty writes and reviews private client content on this site, covering wills and estate planning, probate, powers of attorney, Court of Protection and later-life planning.
